Hello, my name is Lissy De Jesus and I joined Holy Spirit as its Associate Director of Liturgy and Music in November 2022 and now currently the Director of Liturgy since August 2023.
In this role I help the congregation participate fully at Mass through Liturgy and music as well. I also assist with the audio and visual needs of the parish. Before calling Holy Spirit my new place to continue my ministry, I was at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton for 2 years as an Associate for Liturgy and Sacred Music. I also worked at St. John Neumann where I served for 14 years as its Director of Liturgy, Pastoral Music & Communications.
I am a proud wife to Jay as we celebrate 20 years of marriage, and mom of 3 (Vito, 19; Nio, 11; Lili, 8) plus one of our very own guardian angel (Riley, who would have been 14 now), and our puppy, Sandy. I am a Broadway junkie, so we are fortunate to have the season tickets at the Smith Center. My family and I enjoy eating out and trying different types of food around town. I binge watch so many shows from Disney Plus (Star Wars), Netflix (The Crown, Bridgerton), and HBO Max. I am and always will be a “Friends" superfan since 1994 (ask me anything, and I will have the answer, sometimes even the exact line)! Most of all, though, I love karaoke! Our living room is the perfect spot with a decked out system that is specifically made for karaoke parties.
I was born in Manila, Philippines, but grew up in Austin, Texas, and went back to the Philippines to attend college. I majored in Sociology at the University of the Philippines. I studied Special Education at Grand Canyon University and I received a Certificate in Liturgical Studies from the Diocese of Las Vegas. I truly consider Las Vegas as my hometown because it’s where I’ve lived the longest and where I’ve put down roots of my own family.
I sincerely hope that I will be able to bring my experience and positive attitude to this community. I will always maintain a student mentality and attempt to learn more, not only about my faith, but also from the different people I come across each day.
